Position: Mechanical Maintenance Coordinator –
Crushing and Conveyors
Lumwana Mine, Kalumbila, Zambia.
Reporting to: Mechanical Maintenance
Superintendent
Lumwana Mining Company Limited (LMC), a copper
mining company owned by Barrick Gold Corporation is situated in the North
Western region of Zambia, some 300 km west of the Zambian Copperbelt and 95 km
south west of the provincial capital of Solwezi. The mine is a multi-pit, multi
staged operation mining approximately 100MT of ore and waste per annum and
producing copper concentrates containing an average of 120,000 tonnes of copper
metal per year over a twenty (20) year mine life, making Lumwana the largest single
open cut copper mine in Africa. The Company is now looking for an experienced
and qualified individual to be considered for the position of Mechanical
Maintenance Coordinator – Crushing and Conveyors
Role Summary
Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance
Superintendent, you will be responsible for the crushing and conveyors
mechanical maintenance team to execute well defined maintenance strategies and
quality maintenance execution such that all mechanical maintenance activities
progress in a safe, efficient and repeatable manner and equipment performance
targets are achieved whilst also meeting the mechanical maintenance budget.
Your duties will include but not limited to the following:
Responsibilities
Assist the Mechanical Superintendent in
developing maintenance strategic plans to enable achievement of the Life of
Mine Plan.
Support the reliability team in the
development and updating of all mechanical maintenance strategies for the
critical fixed plant assets and ensure that these strategies are always
implemented and optimised.
Support the planning team in the development
and delivery of planning and scheduling of all mechanical maintenance
activities for the crushing and conveying equipment ensuring that business
processes are followed and supporting systems utilised effectively.
Assist the Mechanical Superintendent in a
support role with regards to the management of planned maintenance and
scheduling of crushing and conveyors.
Work with the Mechanical maintenance
Superintendent to achieve production and cost targets in conjunction with
daily, weekly and monthly processing plans that correspond with the annual
production target
Cascade plan and objectives through the team
to ensure all activities are focused on agreed outcomes and reflected in the
processing plans.
Coordinate/supervise the execution of daily
scheduled and unscheduled mechanical maintenance activities including shutdowns
for the fixed plant (crushers and Conveyors) ensuring that maintenance is
executed safely and effectively with adherence to procedures, standards and
specifications as appropriate
Responsible for staff scheduling that will
include section rotations, employee training, and employee annual leave and
back up for absent employees.
Maintain a formal management reporting system
that incorporates performance statistics, any applicable statutory requirements
and business improvement initiatives.
Conduct safety and maintenance audits from
time to time.
Ensure effective utilisation of section mobile
equipment (LVs) and ensure that maintenance schedules are followed
Support the Mechanical Superintendent in the
development and updating of the mechanical maintenance budget and the delivery
of weekly/monthly cost variance reporting and monthly budget forecasts
Complete performance evaluation reviews for
direct reports and manage their IDP (Individual development plans)
Develop, implement and maintain safe work
procedures and promote high safety and health
awareness. Promote and comply with the LMC Occupational Health
& Safety Policy.
Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a middle
management role in a large-scale processing plant.
Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
or meets the requirements to be registered.
Experience in maintenance of Gyratory Crushers
size 60 x 89†or better
Experience in the maintenance of apron
feeders, overland conveyor belts and transfer chutes
Experience in effectively and efficiently
manage day to day work, large scale maintenance shutdowns/rebuilds, and project
work
Experience in interpretation and work with
engineering drawings (mechanical)
Knowledge in maintenance key performance
indicators and their calculation methods
Basic knowledge in condition monitoring
techniques
Competent in incident/accident investigation
using recognised systems
Ability to communicate effectively across all
levels, confident communicator with senior management, legal entities and
external stakeholders.
