The Rural Electrification Authority is a statutory body
established pursuant to the enactment of the Rural Electrification Act No. 20
of the Laws of Zambia of 2003. One of the main functions of the Authority is to
facilitate availability and access to electricity by all Zambians living in the
rural areas by extending the national grid and /or through the installation of
isolated grids using renewable energy sources such as mini-hydro’s, solar, wind
and others.
In order to effectively manage its functions. The Authority
wishes to recruit suitably qualified, self-motivated and experienced persons
for manager project Implementation Environmental Officer; and procurement
Officer.
ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER
Department: Support Services
Grade: REA 5
Reports To: senior Environmental Officer
Qualifications: Degree in Environmental Science or related
discipline, Should be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (IAAZ)
or any other relevant Association. With 4 years relevant in a reputable
organization in a similar role.
The applicants should possess the following skills
1. Business Planning skills
2. In-depth computer systems/networks and range of software
applications
3. High analytical Skills
4. Communication/Human relations
Purpose of the Job:
The Environmental Officer shall assist field work as well as
in updating all environment records and reports and keep a record of such
information in a traceable format (electronic and hard copies)
Main Duties and
Accountabilities:
a) Provide support in conducting and coordinating
environmental impact assessment studies
b) Provide support and coordinating environmental management
plans, audits and monitoring plans
c) Provide input in conducting EMS and general environmental
awareness training for REA staff
d) Preparing environmental guidelines, reports (monthly
departmental, annual)
e) Updating of data bases for all information on projects
for internal and external use
f) Assist in the Coordination and Implementation of the
Environment Management System (EMS)
g) Assist in the coordination and conducting of
Environmental monitoring and audits
h) Assists Senior Staff at REA undertake training for other
REA Staff in internal environmental guidelines
I) maintain a record of all environmental related customer
complaints
J) Planning and
organizing stakeholder meetings/Public participation meetings in project areas
to enhance project areas to enhance project acceptability
k) Provide input in preparation of reports pertaining to the
operation of the department on a regular basis
