Lubambe copper mine is located within the Greater konkola
Area of Zambia Copperbelt and consists of a large – scale mining license
covering an area of approximately 240 square kilometers. The mine is a modern,
world class facility with fully mechanized underground operations.
Lubambe copper mine is owned by EMR Capital of Australia
(80%) and ZCCM – Investments Holdings (20%).
The mine
currently in a ramp up stage and will ultimately produce 45,000 tonnes of
contained copper and will employ approximately 1,500 people. The plant
infrastructure consist of a concentrator plant, a laboratory and underground
infrastructure, the concentrator incorporates crushing, milling, floatation and
filtration. The design capacity is 2.5 MTPA of ore at an average mill grade of
2.3% copper, yielding 45,000 tonnes of contained copper in concentrate to be
sold to smelters in Zambia.

qualified and motivated persons to fill the following vacancies:
GEOLOGIST
The Geologist shall report to the Mine Geologist.
Core purpose of the
position
To carry out Geological Functions at Lubambe Copper Mine as outlined
in the key performance outlined below.
Key interactions
The geologist has a wide range of interactions and
information supplied is critical to success across many disciplines. The
Geologist will be required to attend meetings as may be required to enhance
interactions with others, such interactions will mainly comprise but not be
limited to: - Surveyors, sectional Planners, Mine Superintendents and Mine
Captains.
Key Performance
Areas/Indicators (KPA/Is)
1. Supervision
. The Geologist will monitor and supervise the Lubambe Dewatering
crew. Grade control crew, sampling crew and the Data base administrator.
2. Mine Ground Water
. The management of Ground water shall require the
interaction of the Geology functions with, Engineering, planning, Mining and
Survey disciplines
. The Geologist will be responsible for planning of Dewatering
holes. The Geologist will manage and super the drilling and installation of
pumps to allow for Dewatering of the Mine ahead of Development and stoping.
. The Geologist will be responsible for ensuring that there
is a Hydrological model of the water, the Geologist shall insure that all new
sources of ground water are logged with their position, locations, pressure,
rate and quantities of inflow. The Geologist will report all water
intersections in terms of position, borehole number, depth of intersection and
volumes intersected, monthly and ensure that such data is entered into the
Database.
3. Core Logging
. The Geologist shall manage the quality of the all the
drilling core, booked meterage, recovery and sign shift reports for each respective
driller. He will insure that the established procedure for Drill core handing
is followed and that all the necessary data is captured and entered the data
base.
. The geologist will be responsible for drill core sampled
to standard as per established procedure of sampling and ensure that the
samples are submitted the metallurgical plant Lab for assaying.
. The geologist will ensure a report is issued at the end of
each month listing the holes drilled, final depth, assay and QA/QC results and
average core loss both within and outside of the ore body.
. The Geologist will compile all drill shift reports and
generate a cost forecast which will be forwarded to the cost Accountant for
provision of payments and budget control.
. The Geologist will be responsible for comping the Geology
Monthly report for all the activities in department.
4. Production
. The Geologist will be expected to generate a production
wireframe for ore body outline which will enable the planning Engineering to
design the production stopes and blasting outline
. Note: Lubambe
through your supervisor may request you to perform tasks not exactly stipulated
in this advisement-up in your continued employments as a Geologist for Lubambe
Copper Mine Limited.
Professional and
Academic Qualifications:
. A degree or Qualification in Geology obtained from a recognized
institution.
. A knowledge of CAD software particularly Datamine and
microstation
. Minimum three years working experience in the Mining
industry
. A good knowledge in the use of Microsoft word packages
like word, Excel and PowerPoint.
. Must registered as an Engineer with the EIZ and ERB of Zambia
6. Attributes

. Good interpersonal skills.
. Working with minimum supervision
.Should be of a sober character
