Related Tuberculosis (ZAMBART) is a research-focussed non-governmental
organisation that conducts research on HIV and Tuberculosis to help control and
mitigate the impact of the dual epidemic. Zambart staff form an interdisciplinary
team with a range of expertise including epidemiology, clinical science, social
science, laboratory, operations research, health systems and services research,
health policy analysis, health economics, health communication and counselling.
Trial Summary
The Tuberculosis Reduction
Through Expanded Antiretroviral Treatment and Screening (TREATS) Project will
evaluate the effect of a combined TB/HIV prevention intervention implanted in
the PopART trial to address the question of whether population level screening
for tuberculosis, combined with universal testing and treatment (UTT) for HIV
can significantly reduce the prevalence of TB and “ End TBâ€.
The overall aim of this project
is to measure the impact of a combined TB/HIV intervention of population level
screening for TB, combined with universal testing and treatment (UTT) for HIV,
delivered over 4 years, on prevalence of TB disease.
To support our wide range of
research activities, we are looking for candidates to fill the following
positions:
Study Coordinator (1 Position)-
TB Prevalence Survey-Lusaka
Location: Study coordinator will be stationed at Head Office.
Duration of Contract: Twelve (12) months
This position will mainly involve
centrally coordinating the TB Prevalence survey which includes managing mobile
field research teams, developing mobile field monitoring tools and supervision
of fieldwork.
Responsibilities
§
Contribute to the development of
Field Manual, SOPs and Monitoring tools for the TB prevalence survey.
§
Aid the procurement process of
logistics for use during the Prevalence survey.
§
Plan and coordinate all aspects
of the fieldwork, in liaison with the site Team Leaders.
§
Facilitate recruitment of all
survey personnel including training and supervision.
§
Effective management of all study
resources and equipment.
§
Resolving problems and
bottlenecks in a timely fashion to avoid delays in field data collection.
§
Timely submission, revision and
review of study materials as needed.
§
Effective communication with
field teams’ leadership including preparation of regular reports on the
progress of survey activities.
§
Updating the Principal
Investigator on progress of the Prevalence survey and any other related issues
from the field.
Essential requirements
§
Diploma in Health sciences or
similar qualifications
§
Master’s in Public Health is an
added advantage.
§
Leadership and management skills.
§
Demonstrated competence in field
survey management.
§
Demonstrated proficiency in
written and spoken English.
§
Strong computer skills, including
familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
§
Able to perform well under
pressure to meet deadlines.
§
Timely preparation and submission
of the survey reports.
§
Willingness to spend time in the
field during preparation for field work and data collection.
§
Ability to work independently as
well as manage and lead a successful team.
§
Ability to liaise effectively
with local officials in survey clusters (during pre-survey visits, actual field
work, and in event of any field challenges).
Desirable
§
Interpersonal skills to
facilitate relations with government, local community stakeholders and other
consortium partners.
§
Experience and skills in training
and teaching.
§
Fluency in one or more of Zambian
local languages spoken in target communities, Nyanja, Bemba, Lozi and Tonga
will be an advantage.
