APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT, MAINTENANCE
& SUPPORT MANAGER
1. Purpose of the Job
To maintain, support, and upgrade
existing systems and applications needed to keep the business running and lead
a team of software developers.
2. Key Responsibilities
a) Manage the development,
deployment and support of new application, systems software and/or enhancements
to existing applications throughout the bank
b) Ensure that development projects meet business requirements
c) Ensure that all system applications in production are well maintained and
supported according to agreed service level agreements
d) Collaborate with Business Analyst, Developers and System owners in the
testing of new software programs and applications
e) Manage and provide direction for the Application and Development team in
support of business applications
f) Review and analyze existing applications’ effectiveness and efficiency and
develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems
g) Research and make recommendations on software products and services in
support of procurement and development efforts
h) Co-ordinate feasible studies for software and system products under
consideration for purchase, and give advice based on findings
i) Prioritize projects assigned to the Application and Development team
j) Responsible for the Development lifecycle of the Bank’s software systems,
including gathering requirements, database, management,
software development, testing , implementation, user follow up, support
and project management.
k) Develop and implement change control processes for the development team to
follow
l) Provides ad-hoc reporting and decision support required for management
decision processes
m) Makes technology decisions that affect Software Development.
n) Works on special IT projects as and when required
o) Assist with the planning and development of the overall ICT strategic
planning to ensure operational business needs are met across the bank
p) any other duties as assigned by superiors.
3. Qualifications and Experience
§
Full grade 12 certificate
§
Bachelor of Science degree in
Computer Science or related field
§
Eight years Technical/Systems
Support/Programming experience in Banking/ ICT Industry of which Five years’ is
managerial experience
§
In depth knowledge of the
Database systems SQL, Core Banking System, Programming, etc.
§
Knowledge in Management
practices, skills and concepts, administration, project control, supervisory
techniques and budgeting
§
Good knowledge of Oracle and UNIX
will be an added advantage
